Discovering What is Underneath.

We have a black & white photo of our house before the horrible aluminum siding was put on. Since it is black and white, we didn't know what color the house was originally.
Now that the aluminum siding has been mostly torn off on the lower part of the house, we can see that it was painted white, with a shade of forest green on the trim and other parts. Wish they would have just painted it, instead of putting the aluminum over it. We are probably going to end up with kind of a greenish/khaki/tan color with white trim. Any opinions on that? It is HARD to pick a color that we will not get sick of over time. (At least the inside could easily be re-painted if we don't like it.)
